First Day of Kindergarten

So I'm a little bit behind....but...here's a few pics from the first day of Kindergarten! Zander started August 5.

Get your kicks on Route 66!

Friday we went to Meteor Crater in Northern Arizona! I went once when I was a kid but it was nice to take Zander to see it. Our friends Ian & Maria went with us in the suburban.

Meteor Crater has a museum talking about meteors, space and has some NASA items. It's pretty cool! Especially for a kid that's into space!

Next we stopped in Winslow for lunch.



Then we headed to Holbrook to spend the night in a Wig-Wam. These Wig Wams were one of the inspirations for the movie "Cars" and Sally's Cozy Cone hotel!


There are many dinosaurs in Holbrook. Zander was excited that the only dinosaur on the Wig Wam property was right outside our little window. He named this dinosaur Jokey.

There was a huge storm after dinner Friday night (we ate some yummy Italian food! The whole town had a blackout for about an hour and a half.

It was fun!

4th of July

We went to a friend's house for the 4th of July.

July Swim Lessons

He's doing so awesome at swimming!

Swim lessons!

Zander has done so good at swim lessons this year! Doug and Zander swim at least 2 or 3 times a week too. Zander is jumping off the diving board and swimming all over the pool without a floaty! It's awesome!



Zander was in Level 1 for June and is moving up to Level 2 for July!

We started collecting quarters, it's a fun way to learn about the states!

Zander completed Hooked on Phonics Kindergarten Reading! He's reading simple readers now, it's awesome!

Dinosaur Museum!

The Natural History Museum in Mesa is one of Zander's favorite destinations. He was excited to bring cousin Madison along for a visit.

AZ Science Center

We went to the AZ Science Center with Becky & Chase. There was a Lego exhibit in addition to the normal science center exhibits.

Ceretta's Chocolate Factory!

I took Zander to Ceretta's Chocolate Factory in Glendale for a PBS promotion to see "Sid the Science Kid". Ceretta's is in Glendale right across Daddy's work.




It smelled really good in there! Zander doesn't like chocolate (or most candy) so he wasn't overly impressed. But I think he still liked seeing an actual chocolate factory.
