First day of pre-k
Yay Zander!
(he was carrying his cup of water and it got all over his shirt)
I guess he had the best day ever. I wish I would have picked him up because Doug said he wouldn't stop talking about how awesome school was. When I got home he was watching Sprout and ignoring me. :-)
There was a piece of poster board with instructions to make a family collage. Doug goes "We have homework already". lol. We just need to put pictures that represent us for him to show off at school on Friday. He's going M-W-F now, he's been in T-Th since January.

My almost 4 year old
You are suddenly too cool to smile for a picture. You have to give me these little attitude faces and I say "Please, just one sweet smile for Mama" and you still give me the attitude look.
You are funny, charming, smart, inquisitive, talented, adorable, friendly, loving, stubborn and sweet.
You light up every room you walk in.
You are growing up right in front of my eyes.
I love you, Little Man.
Keep rockin, Bubba.

Pump it Up!
I took Zander to Pump it Up Wednesday night. It's such a good workout! We were both sweating.

He's so big! When did this happen?

Desert Ridge Marketplace
We went to Desert Ridge Marketplace to have dinner at Dave & Busters with Doug's family. After dinner we let Zander play on the playground then we heard music playing. So we went and watched this band called Avenue A from LA. Zander LOVED them. He danced the entire time for 2 sets! People were watching and clapping for him. After the show was over all these people came over to talk to Zander! They were asking if he played music and saying we needed to get a guitar in his land, lol. These ladies were like "You should get that boy on Leno!"
The band was super nice and when they were done the drummer threw out his sticks and one rolled right in front of Zander. Zander tried to give it back to him but he told Zan he could have it. Then they had 2 free cds left and someone else got them so he almost cried. He said to me "I would rather have a cd than a drumstick" (he has drumsticks already). I told him I'd download their songs for him to hear.
Here's a little video clip:
He got a pic with the band.

Sappy songs for moms
I came across this song today:
The One Who Knows
The One Who Knows by Dar Williams
Time it was I had a dream
And you're that dream come true.
If I had the world to give
I'd give it all to you.
I'll take you to the mountains,
I will take you to the sea.
I'll show you how this life became a miracle to me.
You'll fly away, but take my hand until that day.
So when they ask how far love goes
When my job's done you'll be the one who knows.
All the things you treasure most
will be the hardest won.
I will watch you struggle long
before the answers come.
But I won't make it harder,
I'll be there to cheer you on.
I'll shine the light that guides you down
The road you're walking on.
You'll fly away, but take my hand until that day.
So when they ask how far love goes
When my job's done you'll be the one who knows.
Before the mountains call to you,
before you leave this home,
Wanna teach your heart to trust
As I will teach my own.
But sometimes I will ask the moon
Where it shined upon you last
And shake my head and laugh and say
It all went by so fast.
You'll fly away, but take my hand until that day.
So when they ask how far love goes
When my job's done you'll be the one who knows.
not my normal type of music but made me get teary eyed.

This boy never naps so we were glad when he fell asleep on the way to IKEA. It took a while to wake him up though.
oooh, and I scrapped it.

Zander Swimming!
Zander started going underwater and actually SWIMMING last night! This is his 4th week of swim lessons, there's 4 lessons a week but we usually only make 3 cuz of other things.
He's been apprehensive about putting his face in the water but last night after lessons we went swimming (he's in level 1, where I don't have to get in with him). He'd put a floating toy in the water and get his body down and swim to it! Head in water and kicking so he moves. He just kept going under again and again. It was so cool. I told him how proud I was of him!

Zander on drums!
This is him last weekend, just rocking out. But his little combo towards the end is very good. He's been doing that combo a lot:
(ignore how messy my couch looks, we were getting ready to go to Flagstaff and we have to put sheets on the couch so the dog doesn't scratch it up when we're gone)
This is from a few weeks ago. He's singing Clutch's "Electric Worry". And he does a little guitar noise that's just like the song. Love it!
Note: Google Video goes "unavailable" sometimes, so if the video doesn't play try it again.

Garden & Butterflies
Zander & I went to the Desert Botanical Garden to see the butterflies.
Zander thought the butterflies were awesome.
Then we went to PV Mall where Zander saw the Easter Bunny.
And rode the carousel.
It was a fun day!
Can I talk about my kiddo for a moment?
He's doing great in preschool!

This is him sitting on his spot.
We had "parent-teacher" conferences last week. He's doing so well at school. He is one of the youngest in the class (mid-September birthday, about 16 days after the official cutoff but the school agreed to put him in the older-3's class because we want him to start kindergarten in the 09-10 school year). His teacher said he's very well behaved and in tune with his feelings. She gave us an assessment of areas and he was only lacking in 5 things: cutting with scissors, hopping up and down while standing on one foot, knowledge of days of the week and months of the year, and knowledge of community helpers (which is interesting considering a work for the fire department). He writes in upper case letters very well and she's working with him to get him using lower case. So I'm working on that with him too. He was tested on all his letters and he only got two mixed up, lower case b, he said it was a d. And lower case q, he said it was a g.
The teacher said he will be more than ready for Pre-k in the fall! She enjoys having him in class and wishes he was there more than two days, she says he is just thriving. :-)
In February his class's projects were on the front board when you walk in. The teacher asked each child "What is Love?" Zander's reply was "LOVELY", and that was hung with our pictures on the display.

Zander is sitting next to me and he wanted me to write "I LOVE SWEET POTATOES" (his favorite restaurant is Sweet Tomatoes). Oh and his other one is Rainforest Cafe. He's making me write this, lol.
I'm proud of him!

We met Wendi & Family!
My LJ friend Wendi from Texas and her kiddos Bradley & Emersyn were here visiting family last week. We were able to meet up at the train park. It was SO nice meeting Wendi, she's awesome (and taller than I imagined, hehe)
Here's some pics of the kiddos:

Zander & Bradley on the train.
We rode the train and the carousel. Then the boys played on the playground for a while, they had a great time.

Bradley & Zander waving at the train.

Bounce house!

Zander is so brave these days. Just a few months ago he wouldn't have done this.

Bradley & Zander getting balloon swords(which ended up popping, of course). Wendy & Emersyn in the background. I should have taken more pictures!

The boys playing swords!
We had a great time. The boys got along so well.
Zander and I ate at Grimaldi's afterwards (cuz you can't drive to Scottsdale and not eat Grimaldi's pizza!) and Zander at 2.5 pieces! This is the boy that doesn't like pizza, lol.
